The Stuttgart office of Trimble Inc. is looking for a skilled
Geospatial Backend Cloud Software Engineer
with a strong foundation in
cloud technologies
to join our engineering team.
The ideal candidate will design, develop, and maintain backend services that power our scalable, secure, and high-performance geospatial cloud-based applications. You'll collaborate closely with global, cross-functional teams to deliver robust APIs, efficient data processing pipelines, and seamless integrations across platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain geospatial backend services using C# (.NET Core / .NET 6+)
- Build and optimize cloud-native geospatial applications leveraging Azure / AWS / GCP services
- Implement RESTful OpenAPI spec APIs, data models, and asynchronous processing systems
- Write Python scripts for automation, testing, data analysis, or integration tasks
- Ensure scalability, reliability, and performance of backend components
- Integrate and manage SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB)
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and containerized deployments (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
- Collaborate with frontend developers, DevOps engineers, and data teams
- Conduct code reviews, write unit/integration tests, and follow best coding practices
- Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to technical design decision
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or comparable professional experience.
- 3+ years of experience in backend development using C# and .NET Core
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred; AWS or GCP also considered)
- Working knowledge of Python for scripting, automation, or backend logic
- Strong understanding of API design, microservices, and distributed systems
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, etc.)
- Production experience with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, SQL Server or similar
- Experience with version control (Git) and agile development methodologies
- Understanding of Linux system administration fundamentals
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Experience with serverless architectures (e.g., Azure Functions, AWS Lambda)
- Knowledge of event-driven systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, or Azure Service Bus)
- Exposure to machine learning pipelines or data engineering using Python and / or Scala / Spark
- Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (ELK, Prometheus, etc.)
- Terraform or similar Infrastructure-as-Code experience
- Experience with geospatial datatypes (coordinate systems, raster, vector, point cloud, mesh)
- Computer graphics and/or computer vision experience, in particular mesh or photogrammetry processing

About Your Location
In this role, you will work with your manager to establish a mutually agreeable schedule for your time working in the office based on the position and the business need. Typically in-office positions allow 1 remote day per week, with the remainder of the days worked from a Trimble office.
