ABOUT THIS ROLE

As Corporate Counsel you will be a key member of Audible’s European and wider global legal teams. You will be the lead lawyer supporting audio content development, production, acquisition and distribution deals across Germany, France, Italy and Spain. You will work on a variety of complicated and sophisticated transaction. And will provide strategic and legal advice across a wide range of issues, including intellectual property, digital media and regulatory compliance.

As a Corporate Counsel, you will...
- Structure, draft, negotiate and review a variety of complex content agreements with authors, publishers, production studios, celebrity talent and others.
- Act as lead counsel on original content productions, including providing analysis and advice on intellectual property matters (e.g., chain of title, trademarks, copyrights), production clearances (e.g., defamation, rights of publicity and privacy), guild issues, and other matters.
- Coordinate and interact with business affairs, finance, legal and other Audible and Amazon stakeholders throughout the content acquisition, production, and distribution lifecycle.
- Develop and train non-legal professionals in best practices relating to content acquisition, creation and distribution.
- Maintain or develop standard contract forms, policies and processes.
- Monitor and lead our response to regulatory developments impacting our European content initiatives together with Audible and Amazon public policy teams.
- Instruct and manage external counsel.

Basic Qualifications
- German qualified lawyer.
- Trained and qualified at an international law firm.
- 3+ years post-qualification experience of commercial media/entertainment law.
- Significant experience supporting a digital media or content business as a member of, or on secondment to, an in-house team.
- Business fluency in both written and spoken German and English.

Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrates superior drafting, negotiation, organizational, analytical and communication skills.
- Prioritizes and runs a large number of projects at once in a fast-moving environment.
- Collaborates and builds relationships with lawyers and business owners.
- Experience in the publishing industry or of music licensing.
- Proficiency in an additional European language (in particular French, Spanish, Italian).
