The Energy business unit of Munich Re F&C (Facultative & Corporate) provides bespoke insurance solutions to the global Oil & Gas, Mining and Power industries. The team is a recognized market leader in these classes of business in both the London and international Energy insurance markets.

For the Mining Corporate team, we are looking for a pro-active, highly-motivated and qualified underwriter for a position based in Munich.

Your job
- Performing risk assessment, pricing and acceptance of large and complex mining risks in accordance with our risk appetite and corporate guidelines
- Conducting negotiations with policyholders and brokers for new and renewal business
- Coordination and collaboration with the other F&C units including IO and MR Group
- Developing, maintaining and expanding client and broker relationships
- Contributing to the development of the portfolio by acquiring new business
- Managing post-binding underwriting tasks in a timely manner
- Participating in risk inspections and underwriting reviews
- Controlling of accumulation risks including natural hazards
- Assisting in the implementation of portfolio analyses and compiling statistics and reports
- Continuously develop industry-specific know-how and keep up to date on broader market trends

**Profile**:

- University degree or equivalent, preferably in an engineering related discipline
- Professional experience as an underwriter in direct and/or facultative (re)insurance, focusing on industrial property and/or energy insurance
- Specific experience in underwriting mining operational property business, ideally at least 5 years.
- In-depth knowledge of risk assessment and a robust understanding of pricing tools as well as proficiency in the analysis of wordings
- Excellent analytical skills, along with strong interpersonal and collaboration skills and ability to work in a team environment
- Strong negotiation skills and experience in negotiating terms and conditions with clients and brokers
- Strongly pronounced sales orientation with the ability to build sustainable relationships with clients and brokers
- Solution-oriented with a focused, proactive and efficient work style
- Team spirit and high level of commitment
- Fluent command of spoken and written English
- Willingness to travel
