Director of Accounting

**We are looking for a Director of Accounting (all genders) in our team in Berlin**

As the Director of Accounting, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company's financial accounting and processes. You will lead a team of dedicated professionals and work closely with management to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of our financial data and records. This is a role that requires a strong technical expertise, and the ability to manage and mentor a team of people managers.

**You will**:

- Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, ensuring accurate and timely recording of financial transactions in compliance with local accounting standards and regulations.
- Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and controls to enhance financial reporting accuracy and efficiency.
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual (group) financial statements, providing insightful commentary and recommendations to senior management.
- Manage the annual audit process, working closely with external auditors to ensure timely completion and resolution of any audit findings.
- Oversee the management of accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely and accurate invoicing, payment processing, and collections.
- Drive process improvements within the accounting function, leveraging automation and technology (software systems) to streamline workflows and increase efficiency.
- Monitor and analyze key financial metrics, providing insights and recommendations to senior management for informed decision-making.
- Stay up to date with accounting standards and regulations, ensuring compliance by implementing necessary adjustments to accounting policies and procedures.
- Mentor, develop, and motivate the accounting team, fostering a high-performance culture and providing guidance on technical accounting matters.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations of the accounting team, providing constructive feedback and identifying development opportunities.
- Collaborate with the CFO and other senior leaders to develop and execute financial strategies that align with the company's goals and objectives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as product development and sales & marketing, to support strategic initiatives, business decisions, and financial planning.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with financial institutions, auditors, tax advisors, regulatory bodies and other external partners.
- Provide guidance and support during due diligence processes for potential mergers, acquisitions, or other business transactions.

**You have**:

- Bachelor's or master's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. Professional certifications such as CPA or ACCA are highly desirable.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in accounting, including experience in a leadership or managerial role.
- In-depth knowledge of German accounting principles (HGB) and familiarity with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Strong understanding of German tax regulations and experience in managing global tax compliance.
- Proven experience in financial reporting, consolidation, and analysis.
- Proficiency in using accounting software and ERP systems. Knowledge of Workday or similar platforms is a plus.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience within SaaS industry or comparable business model is a plus
- Demonstrated leadership abilities, including the ability to motivate and develop a team.
