Chemical Laboratory Assistant
The position is permanent. The starting date is as soon as possible. The position is fulltime with salary and benefits commensurate with a public service position in the state Hesse, Germany (TV-H E 9a).
The Faculty of Chemistry is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic full-time lab assistant to join our team. Our lab is equipped with state-of-the art laboratory facilities for chemistry and biology. This position offers the opportunity to work at the exciting interface between organic chemistry and chemical biology, contributing to cutting-edge research projects in a collaborative set-up.
**Tasks**:

- collaborate with other team members in the synthesis, purification and analysis of small molecules in solution; using techniques such as chromatography and NMR
- automatic and manual synthesis in solid phase and purification of peptides, peptide nucleic acids and conjugates using devices such as HPLC, peptide synthesizer
- support in biochemical experiments: protein expression and purification, mammals/procariotic cell-culture, PCR and basic cloning
- leading and assisting the maintenance, operation and management of the laboratory equipment (pumps, HPLC, rotary evaporator, etc) and supplies (chemicals and consumable)
- collaborate in documentation/inventory and ensure compliance with safety in the lab
- support the chemical biology practical courses

**Profile**:

- completed training as chemical laboratory assistant, chemical technician or comparable qualification
- professional experience as a laboratory assistant in a synthetic chemistry lab with strength in small molecules and peptides as well as ideally biochemical experience; at least biochemical training
- ability to thrive in a multidisciplinary environment with shifting tasks with a good sense for priorities and time management
- good communication skills in English (and ideally good communication skills in German)
- ability to follow synthetic/biochemical procedures independently and to work as a team
- dynamic profile, willingness to learn and evolve
