The Fraunhofer Institute for Structural Durability and System Reliability LBF in Darmstadt works together with industry and research at a top national and international level. The institute's main research activities focus on specific issues in the areas of structural durability, system reliability, smart structures and plastics.
The following position is available in the department plastic processing and component design starting as soon as possible:
**Research associate durability design of plastic components**
**What you will do**
- Management and implementation of scientific research and development projects in collaboration with cooperation partners from the private and public sectors.
- Planning and evaluation of fatigue tests on plastic and hybrid structures ts
- Planning of projects and preparation of proposals and offers for the acquisition of new projects
- Publication and presentation of scientific research results in journals and at national and international meetings and conferences
- Supervision of student assistants as well as bachelor and master theseseses
**What you bring to the table**
- Completed scientific college/university degree in plastics technology, materials science, or mechanical engineering
- Experience in project management
- Very good knowledge in the fields of fatigue strength and plastics engineering
- Knowledge of design (CAD) and numerical simulation (FEM)
- Knowledge in programming, preferably in the programming language Python
- Confidence in recording, formulating and communicating complex technical issues
- Good knowledge of written and spoken German and English
- High level of commitment, reliability and a confident manner
- Ability to communicate and enjoy working in interdisciplinary teams

The weekly working time is 39 hours. This position is also available on a part-time basis. The position is initially limited to 3 years, with the intention of extending this.
Remuneration and benefits based on the collective labor agreement for the German civil service (TVöD). Additionally, Fraunhofer may award performance and success-based incentives.
