The Functional Materials and Manufacturing Processes Research Group of Siemens AG in Munich is developing a technology for the additive manufacturing of magnetic sheets. On the one hand, this should enable significantly lower sheet thicknesses and a further reduction in eddy currents, which cause the main losses in electric machines, especially at high speeds. On the other hand, resource efficiency in the manufacturing process can be significantly increased by avoiding waste. Within the scope of the work, measuring systems for process control are to be integrated into an existing plasma-based thermal coating system and then a process analysis is to be carried out, which is to be verified on the basis of corresponding test setups.

- You will create literature research with a summary of the state of the art in science and technology.
- You will select and construct suitable hardware for subsequent acquisition of image data
- You will develop and implement visual defect detection system using machine learning and, or classical methods
- You evaluate systems and methods used
- Last but not least commitment to the research team and to the development of automated visual defect detection systems is no problem for you

**What you need to make real what matters.**
- You are currently pursuing a master degree in computer science, electrical engineering, mathematics, physics or engineering sciences
- Testing activities at the Siemens Technology site in Munich-Perlach
- Remote: research and analysis activities as well as coordination in the student team and research group
- You bring creativity, innovative strength and enjoyment of practical as well as scientific work
- You bring very good written and spoken English / German skills
