**Job Description**:
Mission
- Develop Data Science solutions for implementation and standardization in Big Data environments
- Screen the market for potential new / innovative Data Science approaches
- Support the development of end-to-end analytical approaches based on product concepts
- Actively share Data Science knowledge within Technology and Data network
- Support the presentation of GfK’s Data Science capabilities in client-facing situations

**Responsibilities**:

- Support the creation of input for client proposals
- Support and coordinate Data-Science-related tasks for internal and external projects and work streams
- Create and improve methods and tools, and contribute to best practices in the area of Data Science
- Present GfK’s Data Science expertise at conferences and workshops
- Develop, implement, and standardize Data Science solutions
- Consult internal clients on Data Science related issues
- Foster Data-Science-related knowledge exchange within GfK
- Participate in Communities of Practice
- Support development of talent and organization of required trainings

**Qualifications**:
Essential skills
- PhD or Master degree that reflects strong modeling, statistics and IT skills.
- Typically 2+ years of work experience
- Very strong statistical modeling skills (e.g., causal analysis, predictive models)
- Solid knowledge of Python and the respective development tools / IDEs (e.g., Jupyter, PyCharm)
- Solid knowledge of optimization and / or machine learning algorithms and / or deep learning algorithms
- Solid skills with regards to database handling, in particular SQL, NoSQL
- Basic knowledge of cloud computing environments and tooling (e.g., GCP)
- Basic skills in open source software sourcing (e.g., Apache, Anaconda, GitHub)
- Solid skills with regards to working in Big Data environments (e.g., BigQuery, Cloudera Hadoop, Hortonworks Data Platform, Map/Reduce, Hive)
- Basic skills with regards to performance optimization and scalability (e.g., parallelization, code optimization, containerization, function as a service)

Desirable skills
- Basic understanding of Big Data Architectures
- Expert skills in open data sourcing
