**Research Scientist in Medicinal Chemistry (M/F/d)**

**YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Work in an interdisciplinary team on research projects in close collaboration with other key functions (pharmacology, lead discovery, computational and molecular design, pharmacokinetics, drug metabolism, toxicology, formulation, chemical development, and others)
- Design and execute medicinal chemistry plans, compile synthetic routes, and implement compound syntheses based on structure-property-relationship hypotheses
- Synthesize novel compounds in the laboratory and collaborate closely with other team members in the synthetic modalities department to produce and procure test compounds quickly and efficiently
- Supervise external synthetic chemistry labs (CROs) as needed and support internal technical staff with technical mentoring and guidance
- Act as synthetic chemistry expert (M/F/d) for medicinal chemistry teams
- Actively participate in internal and external meetings as well as communicate scientific results and project updates in front of decision-making bodies

**WHO YOU ARE**
- PhD in synthetic organic chemistry or related area with proven track record of synthetic chemistry incl. knowledge of classical and modern synthetic methods
- Ability to independently design, execute and interpret complex experiments and to solve technical problems that arise
- Demonstrated scientific and technical abilities through contributions to new or advanced technologies and/or new concept research areas
- Technical proficiency, scientific creativity, and independent thought
- Ability to present scientific/technical work at internal seminars
- Ability to work in cross-functional teams and aspiration to build relationships through intra
- and inter-organizational collaborations
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including writing of scientific and technical reports as well as intercultural skills and team orientation
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken; willingness to learn German is a plus
