Senior Financial Accountant

As a Senior Financial Accountant in our newly established finance team in Germany, you’ll play a critical part in managing the financial operations of our German subsidiary, ensuring accurate and compliant financial reporting under IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards) and HGB (German Commercial Code).

You'll bring deep expertise in core accounting processes, including monthly and annual closing activities, fixed asset accounting, VAT reporting, and intercompany transactions. You'll also be responsible for balance sheet reconciliations, financial analysis, and the preparation of both group and statutory accounts.

This role offers the opportunity to help shape the financial infrastructure of a growing organisation within the innovative, fast-paced biopharmaceutical industry. You'll work closely with global and local finance teams, external and internal auditors, and contribute to ongoing system improvements within our SAP and HFM (Hyperion) environments.

**Key responsibilities**
- Executing timely and accurate month-end and year-end closings, including fixed assets, accruals, prepayments, and AR.
- Preparing and filing monthly advance VAT returns.
- Supporting group and statutory reporting and audits.
- Managing fixed asset accounting and controlling processes.
- Handling intercompany recharges and reconciliations.
- Ensuring compliance with internal controls, GMP requirements, and audit standards.
- Leading or supporting system and process improvements in SAP and HFM.

**Your Profile**
- 5 years+ progressive experience in general accounting or finance, ideally in a multinational environment.
- Strong practical knowledge and experience of IFRS and HGB accounting standards.
- Experience with intercompany transactions, consolidation processes, and external/internal audit support.
- Solid background in manufacturing or industrial operations is preferred.
- Advanced SAP FICO knowledge is essential; exposure to HFM reporting tools is a plus.
- Demonstrated experience in process improvement, ERP upgrades, or system optimization projects.
- Fluent in German (C1+) and English (B2+) - both written and spoken.

**Qualifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, with professional certifications like CPA or CA highly desirable.
- Familiarity with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) compliance in finance is a plus.
