Faculty VI Medicine and Health Sciences comprises the fields of human medicine and health services research as well as a wide range of natural sciences. Together with fur regional hospitals, Faculty VI forms the University Medicine Oldenburg. Furthermore, there is a close cooperation with the University Medicine of The University of Groningen. The Auditory Signal Processing Group at Universität Oldenburg, Germany, seeks a motivated **PhD student M/F/d** (75% of full time TV-L 13 position, 3 years) **as soon as possible** in the field of evaluation of behavior-controlled hearing devices in interactive virtual reality. Hearing devices interact with the user's behavior. For example, natural head movements can interfere with highly selective spatial filters, and the user's own voice can interfere with recent (machine learning based) speech enhancement schemes. Another increasingly important factor is that data from embedded biosensors are increasingly being investigated as a means of controlling hearing aid function. For example, head movements and/or gaze direction have been proposed to support algorithms for discriminating between desired (attended) and undesired (unattended) speech sources in the acoustic scene. To support such developments and to evaluate novel algorithms, conditions with natural user behavior are needed to collect meaningful data. In particular, it has been shown in the literature that for natural motion behavior in speech communication environments, the conversation must be interactive. To this end, our lab has developed a method that combines interactive audiovisual environments with low-delay remote interlocutors. This project is a collaboration between the Auditory Signal Processing Group (Prof. Dr. Volker Hohmann, Dr. Giso Grimm, Dr. Hendrik Kayser) and other research groups of the Department for Medical Physics and Acoustics. It is associated to the CRC "Communication Acoustics" funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) - Project-ID 352015383 - SFB 1330.
