The Max-Planck-Institute for Radio Astronomy (MPIfR) is a world-leading institute in radio astronomical research. It conducts fundamental astronomical research with projects and collaborations in observatories all over the Earth and also in space. In addition, it conducts technological developments and receiver construction in high-tech laboratories in the field. Among others, the institute operates the 100m radio telescope in Bad Münstereifel Effelsberg and the submillimeter telescope APEX at an altitude of 5100m in the Atacama Desert in Chile.
The International Max Planck Research School for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IMPRS for A&A) is a cooperation in doctoral education between the Max Planck Institute for Radio Astronomy (MPIfR) and the Universities of Bonn and Cologne.

IMPRS Scientific Coordinator (f/m/d)
In your role as IMPRS Scientific Coordinator, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of our IMPRS program.
**Your tasks**:
- Coordination the participating institutions to facilitate the recruitment and selection of the best national and international PhD students. As part of your job, you will pre-select suitable applicants based on their research experience.
- Development and management of the academic course program.
- Management of all financial, academic, administrative, as well as organizational matters related to IMPRS and its students.
- Reporting regularly to the IMPRS Spokesperson and Board of Directors, as well as to the MPIfR Institute's Board of Directors and Scientific Evaluation Committee.
- Promotion, planning, coordination and execution of IMPRS events as well as implementation and management of IMPRS social media channels.
- Serve as contact person for our students and faculty in any cases of conflicts and problems.
- Provision of advice and support to our young scientists at both IMPRS and MPIfR in their career decisions.
- Tracking of the careers of IMPRS alumni students and build an alumni network.
**Your Profile**:
You
- have a doctoral degree with a major in astronomy or physics.
- can demonstrate experience in academic research as well as teaching relevant to our program and have knowledge of scientific public relations (including social media). Scientific experience abroad is an advantage.
- can preferably demonstrate knowledge in the areas of organizational and management activities in an international, as well as, academic environment.
- have excellent written and oral language skills in both German and English, as well as proficiency in writing grant proposals.
- have excellent interpersonal skills and an open world view for the different nationalities as well as cultural backgrounds of the members of our institute. Knowledge in mentoring or supervision is also an advantage.
- have a reliable way of working, good time management and the ability to work in a team.
- should have an overview of the academic and non-academic career paths of our young scientists in Germany and abroad.
