The salary is based on the German public service salary scale (TV-L).
The position corresponds to a pay grade of EG 13 TV-L.
**Unser Profil**:
The Professorship for Developmental Biology at the RWTH is a newly established Chair in the frame of the Excellence Initiative of this University to strengthen interdisciplinary research in the life sciences. The research group led by Prof. Dr. Gaia Tavosanis, focuses on the development and adult plasticity of the nervous system. The group investigates the cellular mechanism underlying the differentiation of neurons and the capacity of remodelling of the adult nervous system at the cellular and circuit level. For this, they combine multiple approaches ranging from molecular biology and classical genetics in _Drosophila _to high-resolution _in vivo _microscopy, functional imaging and behavioural paradigms.
We are currently recruiting at the postdoctoral level in the following fields of research:
Differentiation of neuronal dendrites in the _Drosophila _larva
- a. Cellular mechanisms of dendrite branch stabilization
- b. Structure/ function analysis of _Drosophila _larva dendrites
Mushroom body calyx
- a. Assembly of the Mushroom body calyx circuit
- b. Anatomical and functional basis of the formation of sparse codes of olfactory representation in the mushroom body calyx.
- c. Functional and structural plasticity of the adult mushroom body calycal circuit.
**Ihr Profil**:
- University degree (master's degree or equivalent) and a completed PhD
- A strong interest in Neuroscience
- Strong background in fly genetics
- Expertise in molecular and cell biology
- Experience in _in vivo _and functional imaging techniques
- Expertise in programming will be of advantage
- Good communication skills, fluency in spoken and written English

- Present your results at national and international conferences
- Prepare and publish manuscripts
- Contribute to teaching
- Support the aims of the lab in research, mentorship, teaching and management
