Calibration Expert

- The position
- We are currently looking for an expert in Instrument Calibration for our calibration lab in Darmstadt.
- This role will consist of a combination of establishing electric power calibration capabilities in our Darmstadt facility, getting these capabilities certified to various standards like DAkkS and ISO 17025, and a rollout of these capabilities into our world wide calibration lab network. Beyond this, the position also needs to significantly take a role in creating and establishing methods to enable “dynamic and high frequency power calibration”, to establish thought leadership in this area for our EPT business area.
- EPT - Electric power test
- The business area of Electric Power Test is one of the focus area HBK wants to grow in. Significant investments are and will be made to boost the sales in this area and to become one of the 2 or 3 big players in this market. One of the key milestones identified to achieve this is to offer inhouse and certified electric power calibration (later maybe even on-site) to meet customer needs, and later to expand on “dynamic power calibration” to exceed customers expectation and to become a thought leader.
- The open position described here is the spearhead of this capabilities to be implemented.
- Primary responsibilities
- Short term, you will be responsible to get our existing power calibration setup improved and to certify it against DAkkS standards. To achieve this, you will work closely with calibration lab team member, development, product marketing, and EPT technologists.
- Improvements and upgrades to existing processes need to achieve certification need to be identified, triggered and implemented by you.
- Mid term these new DAkks certified power calibration capabilities need to be extended to chain calibration, ISO17025 certified calibration, and then rolled out to various HBK cal labs.
- You will also be the product owner of our calibration setup incl hardware and software, and will be responsible to further develop this and to streamline it with other HBK cal processes.
- You will hold the economic responsibility to effectively offer and sell these services through our worldwide network of highly educated sales channel, by providing the necessary tools and infrastructure to these.
- Long term target of your business segment EPT is to become market and thought leader, and as part of this we want to establish methods and processes for “dynamic and high frequency power calibration”. Together with our technologists and development engineers, you need to play a vital role in this as well.General description-
- As a calibration expert for power calibration (M/F/d) you will work on the further development of our calibration services in the field of electrical measurands: voltage, current, power.-
- By addressing the prerequisites and requirements for accreditation, you will lead the process to get our power calibration accredited to DAkkS.-
- At the same time, calibration process should be improved / changed where needed to meet ISO17025.-
- By means of metrological investigations and theoretical considerations, you will expand our know-how in the field of power measurement and high-frequency measurement as well as their uncertainty calculation. This will be done in close working relation with our technologists in the EPT field.-
- Your responsibilities will include the creation of test concepts and test specifications, from which you will derive the relevant test cases, as well as the documentation of the results.-
- In internal interdisciplinary groups, you will work with your colleagues to continuously improve the services associated with our products.-
- You will take the lead to “market” our calibration services, by delivering the needed tools to sales. This includes pricing, scope of delivery, and so forth.-
- You will be the product owner for all calibration related technical equipment: hardware, software, accessories, as well for internal use and for sale to selected external large scale customers.- Professional qualifications- Experience in EPT solutions - electric drivetrain, grid and high voltage test are a plus.-
