W2-professorship in Statistical Physics

The Institute of Physics at the School of Mathematics and Natural Sciences seeks to fill the position of a **W2-Professorship in Statistical Physics (M/F/x)** starting **as soon as possible**. The applicant is expected to participate in the research initiatives of the Institute of Physics and the school. Among others, these include the research Training Group "Dynamics at the nanoscale: From coherent elementary processes to functionality (DyNano)", the Collaborative Research Center 1372 "Magnetoreception and Navigation in Vertebrates", the Helmholtz Institute for Functional Marine Biodiversity or the Research Center for Neurosensors. Applicants must submit a research concept outlining collaboration for joint research projects at the institute, the school and the university levels. As the University of Oldenburg and the University of Bremen are bound by a cooperation agreement, active participation in the cooperation is expected. - Publication achievements in the topics of nonequilibrium dynamics of complex systems, stochastic processes, or statistical mechanics of information; - University teaching experience and didactic skills; - Experience in supervising theses as well as doctoral dissertations; - Research-oriented ties to the above mentioned research initiatives. The tasks include teaching covering the entire spectrum of theoretical physics at the Institute of Physics in the basic courses of the Bachelor's program as well as in the advanced theoretical courses of the Master's program. The Bachelor's program is conducted in German. Therefore, it is expected the willingness to acquire sufficient German language skills at the latest three years after appointment.
