**We help the world run better**
**What you'll do**
- The investigation and development of novel, efficient cryptographic solutions for secure computation of statistical functions or secure training of suitable machine learning models. The cryptographic techniques to consider are, e.g., secure multi-party computation, garbled circuits, fully homomorphic encryption, or combinations thereof.
- Improving the privacy of machine learning models or data sharing methods while maintaining useful utility for certain tasks with state-of-the-art anonymization, e.g., differential privacy.
- Combining cryptography (for input secrecy) and anonymization (for output privacy), i.e., investigating and developing efficient techniques for secure computation of anonymized functions.
- You will have the chance to work with experts on state-of-the-art security and privacy topics leading to the successful completion of a PhD degree.
- Working in a collaborative environment as an active participant in our research team, we expect you to research, invent and evaluate new technologies, implement and validate research results, as well as to document findings.
- You should have an attitude to identify and solve research problems and be willing to dive deeper into the theoretical foundations of new techniques where necessary.
- We expect you to be able to communicate your research inside SAP and externally in the academic community.
- Ideally, you have a background in IT Security, with a focus on data anonymization and/or cryptography. You should know programming languages such as Python or Java and demonstrate knowledge of machine learning technologies.
**What you bring**
- Completed MSc or equivalent degree in computer science, mathematics or other relevant field combined with a scientific interest in IT security
- Technical knowledge about algorithms & data structures combined with sound programming skills (e.g., Python, JavaScript, Java, or C++)
- Basic knowledge about cryptography and/or anonymization as well as the willingness to deepen that knowledge
- Basic knowledge about, and hands-on experience with, machine learning as well as the willingness to dig deep into current research aspects of the field.
- Ability to work independently and thoroughly
- Team player, flexible & dedicated
**Work experience**
Please tell us if you have experience as a working student or even as a young professional. We do not expect you to have any major prior work experience, though this may of course be beneficial. We want you to integrate into a research team and deliver high-class research, while at the same time, demonstrating the applicability of the research results to SAP’s product portfolio.
**Meet your team**
SAP Security Research identifies and solves research problems relating to software and operational security, and shares its insights with others, particularly product groups at SAP, to drive advances in security and privacy. The group stays at the forefront of security research by tracking trends in security, and by co-innovating through collaborative research with leading universities, partners, and SAP product groups.
SAP Security Research’s objective is to understand new basic principles in research around Anonymization, Machine Learning, Applied Cryptography and Quantum Computing. We analyze the business value for SAP, refine the method and adapt them for SAP. By building prototypes and blueprints for productization, we support the SAP development teams to consume the research results. We are a young and dynamic team of post-doctoral researchers and PhD Students striving for new ways to protect enterprise systems.- #PhD #Doktorand #Germany #Deutschland #Student_
**We build breakthroughs together**
**We win with inclusion**
SAP’s culture of inclusion, focus on health and well-being, and flexible working models help ensure that everyone - regardless of background - feels included and can run at their best. At SAP, we believe we are made stronger by the unique capabilities and qualities that each person brings to our company, and we invest in our employees to inspire confidence and help everyone realize their full potential. We ultimately believe in unleashing all talent and creating a better and more equitable world.
