In 2021, LyondellBasell was named to Fortune Magazine's list of the "World's Most Admired Companies" for the fourth consecutive year. **Roles & Responsibilities** - Interact with researchers to identify inventions and maximize protection of technology. - Resolve patent issues and provides proactive advice and counsel in relation to intellectual property matters. - Implement the patent strategy in one or more technology fields and participates in ensuring a pro-active patenting policy, with a view to detect inventions at an early stage and ensure timely and appropriate protection commensurate to their strategic value. - May represent the company in patent oppositions proceeding and other adversarial proceedings in patent offices and courts. - May conduct patent clearances to avoid patent disputes, including advance infringement reviews and competition patent portfolio analysis, clearance opinion drafting, and managing outside counsel clearance opinion preparation. - Contribute to the determination and payment of the German employee inventor remuneration. - Communicates with clients regarding status updates. **Qualifications** - University degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering; PhD preferred. - Qualified or Part-Qualified European Patent Attorney, possibly with relevant national qualification. - Four or more years of relevant experience within a reputable patent firm or in-house intellectual property department of a mid to large size corporation; experience in the chemical industry is strongly desired. - Ability to balance the legal issues of a project with the goals of the business through the demonstration of strong, pragmatic business acumen and the ability to recognize the business consequences of legal advice. - Strong advocacy skills. - Ability to function autonomously, yet understands necessity of advising management of work progress and any unusual situations. - Skilled at managing multiple tasks simultaneously and effectively. - Ability to work independently and efficiently under time pressures and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. - Ability to work with cross-functional teams in an international R&D and business environment. - Adaptable to changing environments. - Exercise of sound judgment. - Strong interpersonal skills including ability to engender trust, respect and confidence. - Excellent written and oral communication skills including the ability to communicate and interact effectively at all levels of the organization. - Exemplary personal and professional integrity and business ethics. - Commitment to diversity and a respect for others. **What do we offer** We offer you a job with a high level of diverse tasks and responsibilities in an international company that highly values the development of its employees, quality and safety.
