The tasks within the thesis will consist of:

- **Experimental investigation of mechanical and thermo-mechanical behavior**:

- **Derivation of a material model for FE simulation **including selection of the most adequate ones
- Determination of **damage and aging models**:

- **Contribute to a network of power electronic experts **in a pan-European funding project

The learnings out of the thesis will lead to
- A strategy for the characterization of the mechanical and thermo-mechanical behavior of silicon based potting materials
- A deeper understanding of failure mechanism
- An established method for thermo mechanical simulation of potting gels

**Your Profile**

A doctoral student is a research enthusiast,

›who enjoys working in an industrial environment in combination with an Infineon partner university.

›who appreciates open communication and the contribution of an international environment.
- Received a master’s degree with good or very good grade in **Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, Physics **or similar with a focus on material characterization (either experimentally or simulatively)
- Are **interested in material modeling and thermo-mechanical simulations**:

- Gained **first experience with mechanical experiments **and/or the **finite element method**:

- Are **skilled in programing **(e. g. Python, Matlab, Fortran)
- Bring **strong communicational skills **that enable you to **discuss and exchange ideas **and results **with other experts
- Are able to communicate in **German and English**
