**Responsibilities**:
Active participation in a structured graduate program.
The doctoral researcher will be a member of RTG 2530 and the lab of Experimental Marine Zooplankton Ecology and investigate the top-down control by micro
- and mesozooplankton and viral lysis on the breakdown and decline of pro
- and eukaryotic biomass thus altering C-fluxes in the Elbe estuary using experimental approaches. The project aims to identify the trade-offs of top-down control mechanisms on the growth, condition and recruitment success of estuarine consumers taking factors such as food quality/quantity, nutritional imbalances, as well as biochemical alterations into account.
**Profile**:
A university degree in the field(s) of i.e., marine biology, aquatic ecology, biological oceanography, limnology and/or environmental sciences.
