Director of Risk

Join our **Operations team **as a **Director of Risk and Banking (f/m/d).** You’ll be managing risk in a holistic way, integrating both customer-facing and strategic functions. You’ll have a direct impact on critical risk-related decisions through a close connection to core stakeholders and departments. Together with the team, you will actively shape a risk-aware culture throughout our company and have a direct influence on our business across multiple European markets.

**Your responsibilities**

Here's a bit more on what you can expect to be doing day-to-day:

- ** Subject Matter Expertise & Leadership**:Serve as the primary expert within the Risk Function, offering guidance in developing and executing risk management strategies within the team, as well as also towards your stakeholders.
- ** Strategic guidance**: Support the leadership team in addressing risk and policy issues, particularly in the development of the risk strategy, as well as in creating an effective system to mitigate risks.
- ** Continuous Monitoring**: Overview the risk situation, key risk figures, and compliance with established risk limits. This includes stress testing and assessing risk-bearing capacity.
- ** Process improvement**: Suggest and implement procedures and processes for more effective risk management within the team, as well as in the collaboration with stakeholders and senior management
- ** People Management**: Consistently offer feedback, strategic guidance and coaching to foster the growth of your team members. Own hiring processes and set up onboarding and training to improve team engagement and performance.

**About you**

We think you’ll need the following **experience and qualifications** to succeed in this role:

- Proven experience in broad risk management, both hands on and strategic, in particular in SME credit risk area

- ** Domain expertise**:You demonstrate comprehensive mastery of risk management principles, methodologies, and best practices, particularly focusing on creating systems to limit and control risks effectively.
- ** Empathetic coach**: You effectively manage and mentor a team of experts, providing them with strategic guidance and risk expertise. You identify the skills needed to solve your team’s biggest challenges, and you are able to assess, hire and develop the right talent.
- ** Effective Facilitator**: You grasp the perspective of various audiences and use this to convey complex information effectively. You are able to collaborate with and engage key stakeholders to ensure alignment and build a shared understanding of our challenges in terms of risk.
- ** Strategic Engagement**: You use data and analysis to help executives make smart decisions. Your understanding of key business factors and data helps build awareness and manage risks effectively.
- ** Obsess over customers**: You empathize with the needs and pain points of the customers and strive to achieve a healthy balance between their expectations and risk considerations.
