We are looking for a Principal Accountant to support our Finance team in thriving and being ready for future endeavours. We are seeking a senior accounting professional with deep understanding of General Ledger accounting and with the strong will and ability to navigate between hands-on tasks and strategic future concepts, interested in giving guidance to team members across all ledgers, making sure we provide an excellent set-up for audits, shareholder communication and everything it takes to be on top of the game when it comes to (international) accounting and tax. **Your Role**: - Responsible for the complete and timely maintenance of the general ledger accounting for the group - Preparation and responsibility for the monthly and annual financial statements for the German and foreign companies (with the support of local tax advisors), as well as the consolidated financial statements of the German parent company - Continuous further development of processes and knowledge transfer within the team - Preparation and regular maintenance of all documentation required for the respective integrated financial statements (e.g. fixed asset schedule, cash flow statement, appendix, management report, notes, interest calculations, etc.) - Analyzing and ensuring the correct representation of existing and new business facts and their correct accounting, including familiarization with complex accounting topics, taking into account relevant comments and legal requirements and their sustainable documentation - Support and reconciliation of balance sheet accounts as well as intercompany reconciliations - Monitoring tax deadlines and ensuring compliance in coordination with tax advisors as well as supporting the team with tax expertise - Technical support and participation in the introduction of new tools and assumption of project responsibility for the further development and automation of current financial processes - Sparring partner of the Management in accounting and tax issues with sound specialist knowledge and a pragmatic approach - Central contact person for auditors, tax consultants and all relevant external partners with the aim of establishing a trusting, efficient collaboration - Main contact person for all tax audits in the group **Your Profile**: - Completed degree in business administration with a focus on accounting/finance or a comparable commercial training with further training as a certified public accountant or proven track record of professional experience in the required areas - Experience in preparing annual and consolidated financial statements (at least 5 years would be desirable), ideally in an international environment, as well as the assessment of national and cross-border sales tax issues - In-depth knowledge of HGB and ideally IFRS, combined with the ability to communicate complex issues in an understandable way - Experience with ERP systems (ideally Oracle NetSuite) and financial reporting as well as the ability and willingness to quickly familiarize yourself with new IT systems - An analytical, structured and independent way of working, excellent organizational skills and prioritization, as well as the reliable management of deadlines and time limits, even in challenging situations - Strong communication skills, both in the team and with stakeholders at all hierarchy levels - Proactive identification of problems and their solution-oriented processing - Strong desire for continuous optimization of processes and their clear, understandable implementation in the team - Very good knowledge of German and English, both written and verbal - Hands-on mentality and strong teamwork skills, as well as openness to new topics - In the long term, with appropriate performance and team fit, there is the opportunity to develop into a leadership role in accounting and to actively shape the development of the finance area **Why Join Us?** In Germany, we support a **flexible work model**, offering the possibility to work remotely while encouraging occasional office visits for collaboration and team engagement. - ** Vacation Days**: 26 days, plus 1 extra day each calendar year (up to 5) + your birthday off - ** Personal Days**: 5 "OneFootball Days"—take time off when life happens, no questions asked - ** Additional Pension Contribution** for a secure future - ** Learning & Development Budget**: €600 per year (after probation) to help you grow - ** Mental Health Support** via OpenUp—because your
