- and Geosciences is the right place for you. Our team works on and develops methods and algorithms to achieve a fundamental understanding of high-dimensional data and processes in the bio-economy, focusing on e.g. data analysis, property prediction, research data management, and data integration. The position described here will be part of a project focusing on the development of biotechnological approaches to achieve carbon neutrality by combining the strengths of different scientific disciplines.

**Your Job**:

- Analyaing RNAseq data with respect to the identification and functional annotation of genes involved in, for example, cell wall degradation, carbon flux etc.
- Screening metagenomic and genomic data using deep learning methods in order to identify degrading enzymes from different data resources
- Using Hidden Markov Models and similar tools as well as machine learning for the identification of novel and better enzyme variants from a large proteome compendium
- Generate structural models of enzymes and use machine learning methods to predict their enzymatic function and characterize their molecular recognition properties
- Using machine learning methods and simulation techniques to understand environmental effects on the enzymes and improve their stability and activity
- Publishing the scientific results in international journals and travel to national and international conferences
You will (co)-supervise PhD students

**Your Profile**:
