eBay’s Privacy, AI and Data Responsibility (PRAIDAR) team is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Global Senior Privacy Counsel with a strong focus on AI Governance to join our team. This global role will be pivotal in shaping and implementing eBay’s approach to responsible AI development and deployment, ensuring compliance with evolving global privacy and AI regulations. In this role, you will work closely with our engineering, product, and business teams to navigate the sophisticated privacy and responsible AI landscape.

**What you will accomplish**:

- Provide expert legal counsel and guidance on all aspects of AI governance, including regulatory compliance.
- Monitor and analyze existing and emerging AI-related regulatory frameworks globally, with a particular focus on the EU AI Act, and provide guidance on their impact to the company.
- Ensure the company's AI initiatives comply with applicable privacy laws, including GDPR.
- Develop internal policies, procedures, and frameworks related to the responsible development and use of AI.
- Conduct privacy risk assessments (PRAs) and data protection impact assessments (DPIAs) for AI-powered products, services, tools.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate privacy and AI governance considerations into the AI development lifecycle.
- Advise teams on education programs on AI governance to relevant stakeholders.
- Stay informed about the constantly evolving AI landscape, including ethical considerations, and emerging industry standards.

**What you will bring**:

- JD, LLB, equivalent degree, or equivalent practical experience.
- Admitted to the bar in EU/UK and in good standing or otherwise authorized to practice law (e.g., have registered in-house status) in the state in which the position is located.
- Minimum of 6-9+ years of relevant legal experience, with a significant focus on privacy and AI governance.
- Deep understanding of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and the EU AI Act, familiarity with the NIST AI Risk Management Framework.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing AI governance frameworks and policies.
- Strong knowledge of existing and emerging AI-related regulatory frameworks in jurisdictions relevant to the company’s operations (primarily: US, Europe).
- Significant experience conducting privacy risk assessments (PRAs) and data protection impact assessments (DPIAs), particularly in the context of AI.
- Ability to navigate complexity and ambiguity, analyze disparate information, discern key elements, and formulate balanced recommendations and effective solutions.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong ethical judgment and a dedication to responsible AI.
- ** Experience working in the technology industry, particularly with AI/ML teams** and **certifications in privacy (e.g., CIPP/E, CIPP/US, CIPP/C) or AI governance is highly advantageous**
