**Summary**:
**About the Position**Serves as a Physician (Psychiatry) in a Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) responsible for providing examinations, diagnoses, and treatment of diseases affecting mental health including the brain, nervous system, substance abuse of drugs or chemicals, and personality disturbances.

**Duties**:
- Provide treatment services in any capacity including, but not limited to, inpatient services, consultation, partial hospitalization, day programs, emergency psychiatric services, and routine and intensive outpatient services
- Develop treatment and rehabilitation plans and provide appropriate therapeutic treatment services that may include medication management, electroconvulsive therapy, transcranial magnetic stimulation, and various individual therapy modalities
- Prescribe appropriate pharmacological and psychotherapeutic treatment
- Provide appropriate referrals to other medical and mental health care providers in and outside of the Medical Treatment Facility
- Provide professional consultation, supervision, and collaborative medical support to other professional staff such as psychologists, advanced practice nurses, social workers, and other healthcare providers
- Participate in committees and meetings responsible for the evaluation of care provided to patients at the Medical Treatment Facility
- Conduct training and provide supervision over psychiatric residents, interns, medical students, psychology interns, and other medical and mental health trainees

- One year trial/probationary period may be required.
- Applicants must comply with the Exceptional Family Member Program requirements as outlined in the DoD Instruction 1315.19.
- This position requires the incumbent to successfully complete and maintain credentialing and privileging requirements.
- This position requires regular contact with children under the age 18 and a favorable determination of suitability to do so and periodic re-verification check of multiple agency records.

**Basic Requirement for Physician (Psychiatry)**:
***Degree**: Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada. This degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association; Association of American Medical Colleges; Liaison Committee on Medical Education; Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school must have provided education and medical knowledge equivalent to accredited schools in the United States. Evidence of equivalency to accredited schools in the United States is demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination.
**Licensure**: Applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
**In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirement listed below**:
**Residency Training**:Applicants must have successfully completed the required accredited residency training in the specialty of the position to be filled (Psychiatry) equal to at least four years. Experience may not be substituted for residency training that is required for the specialty identified.

- U.S. citizens overseas under ordinarily resident status are not eligible for appointment under the Status of Forces Agreement.
- If an employee brings a child to an overseas location and that child is entitled to attend a DoD school on a space-required basis in accordance with DoDEA Regulation 1342.13, the DoDEA and the Military Department responsible for providing related services will ensure that the child, if eligible for special education, receives a free appropriate public education, including related services pursuant to DoDI 1342.12 and DoDM 1342.12.
