Nanofabrication Scientist
Vor 4 Tagen
**The impact you will make**:
The Nanofabrication scientist will be a crucial part of fusion target development. Together with the Theoretical and Experimental groups at Marvel Fusion, you will coordinate target design specification goals, and leverage different nanofabrication methods in-house and with external partners to deliver the specified targets. You will help build up a team of scientists and work with external collaborators to advance nanofabrication research and development. Part of your work will also be managing budgets, timelines, and milestones across internal and external developments. In the mid-term, you will help organize and set up an in-house target fabrication lab, including manufacturing, post-processing, and characterization.
Tasks and responsibilities
- Conduct target research and development efforts, in cooperation with an internal team of scientists, external collaborators, and suppliers
- Closely work with the Theoretical and Experimental groups
- Manage budget, timeline, and milestones
- Help build up target team, including recruiting and onboarding
- Align target team with both day-to-day operations and roadmap direction
- Set-up and manage cooperation with external collaborators (private companies, science institutions, etc.)
- Help grow target resources as needed (e.g. additional equipment, headcount, expertise, etc.)
**What you bring**:
- A PhD in Physics or Material Science or Nanoscience
- Experience in nanofabrication of high aspect ratio structures (Preferred: experience with epitaxial growth (bottom up) and chemical etching (top down)
- A few years of experience in research and technical R&D projects. Topics including nanofabrication are a plus
- Experience in milestone development and executing critical path timelines
- Experience managing external collaboration partners
- Entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to act quickly in a fast-paced and rapidly evolving environment
- Simultaneous ability to deep-dive into technical content and maintain “big-picture”, high-level goals
- Capable of making independent decisions and taking ownership of them
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with all members of Marvel Fusion and its collaborators
- Availability to travel, including internationally
- Fluent in English
- Technical Skills: Hands on experience with nanofabrication methods (e.g. PVD, CVD, lithography, high aspect ratio etching, etc.) and characterization methods (e.g. SEM, TEM, EELS, XRD, AFM etc.)
