Chief Technology Officer

The Landbanking Group is revolutionizing the way land is valued and used. By interlinking new technologies: ecosystem modeling, remote sensing, machine learning, meta-genomics and more, we are building a platform to incentivize sustainable land management and cultivate thriving ecosystems.

The great value of the land that farmers and foresters cultivate is not only in their regular harvest. Land also provides the basis of ecosystem services such as nutrient cycling, erosion protection, biodiversity protection, water retention, air purification and many more. Measuring and remunerating these services in order to translate them into rateable quantities, verified nature based claims and from there to financing and investments solutions is the goal we have set ourselves.

TLG is now looking for a passionate Chief Technology Officer to join our ambitious, cross-functional teams and help build a global-level technology platform. As a CTO, you will be also responsible for building and scaling our engineering teams, as well as providing a world-class developer experience.

**Your tasks**:

- Set the technical direction for your product development
- Create and execute a strategic plan and identify the exact resources necessary to put the plan into action
- Design, build and operate our global-level technology platform
- Recruit black-belt engineers for your teams
- Build new features, measure the impact, improve based on learnings
- Leverage modern technologies and public cloud infrastructure to build highly available systems which can scale on-demand
- Collaborate with different internal and external teams for integrations and knowledge sharing
- Oversee the development of your team’s projects and encourage cross-functional collaboration
- Together with your product counterpart, define and implement a platform strategy including relevant KPIs
- Manage our remote-friendly teams of engineers using modern collaboration tools and agile management practices
- Provide a world-class developer experience helping our teams to build, test and deploy code efficiently and reliably
- 8+ years of experience in software engineering in general
- Fluent in at least one of the major web programming language as well as common engineering tools like Git, Jira, and Confluence
- Extensive knowledge of at least one major cloud provider
- Knowledge of ML frameworks, libraries, data structures, data modeling, and software architecture is a plus
- Ability to debug and optimize code
- Automation comes naturally to you and is your first instinct
- As a team player, giving and receiving meaningful feedback helps you and your peers to improve and learn
- Strong problem-solving skills with a passion for observability and reliability
- You take ownership of your work, have a deep sense of responsibility, and keep yourself and your team accountable for the expected results
- Excellent communication skills in English (German is a plus)
