In order to fill a **permanent position in full-time (41,00 hours/week = 100 %) at the earliest possible date**, we are looking for a

**Civil servant (M/F/x) as Academic Council (M/F/d) in the field of ultrashort light generation, control and characterization**:

**Your tasks**:

- Establishment and management of the UARuhr Interdisciplinary Laser Lab
- Project-based, financial and administrative management and supervision of the new core facility
- Establishing collaborations of an academic and industrial nature
- Independent project acquisition in the field of ultrashort pulse laser physics, nonlinear optics and photonics with a focus on high-power laser technologies, parametric amplification and conversion of XUV light generation
- Technical and operational contact person for PhD students and PostDocs
- Strategic planning of research activities and publication strategies

**Your profile**:

- Several years of experience in managing and advising scientific staff
- Several years of experience in the organization and administration of third-party funding, ideally also including experience in managing collaborative networks including access to laser systems and facilities
- Several years of experience in the field of ultrashort light generation, control, characterization
- Sound knowledge in the field of high-power laser technologies, nonlinear optics, in particular, parametric amplification and the development of laser systems in different wavelength ranges
- Sound knowledge of numerical simulation methods for photonics, including pulse propagation and nonlinear optical conversion
- Initial experience as a safety officer at a research institution would be desirable

**Further information**:
The position is on a civil servant basis and is governed by the relevant civil service regulations, in particular the Landesbeamtengesetz (LBG NRW) and the Laufbahnverordnung (LVO). After the personal and career requirements have been met, the salary is paid in grade A13.

The place of work is Ruhr University Bochum.
