Senior System Administrator

Overview:
GovCIO is currently hiring for a Senior System Administrator to provide Linux administration support at US EUCOM. This position will be located in Stuttgart, Germany and will be an onsite position. *salary plus uplifts.

**Responsibilities**:
As a Linux Systems Administrator, you will take ownership of configuring, optimizing, and maintaining our Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and other Linux-based systems. Drawing on your 7-9 years of IT experience, you will troubleshoot, monitor, and secure Linux environments that support critical infrastructure for global military operations. Your responsibilities will include ensuring high availability, peak performance, and the overall integrity of these systems to meet the demands of mission-critical services. Day-to-day responsibilities in this role include:

- Manage and monitor system resources to ensure optimal performance, including performing capacity planning and implementing best practices for system optimization.
- Administer Linux-based systems by handling tasks such as installation, configuration, patching, and security hardening, adhering to DISA STIG requirements for system security.
- Support automation of system administration tasks using shell scripting or tools like Ansible, GitLab, AWX/AAP, PowerShell, and participate in the development of CI/CD pipelines for future automation efforts.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, providing limited support for Windows and networking systems when necessary.
- Systems and tools you may work with include, but are not limited to: ServiceNow, RHEL, Ubuntu, NXLog/SYSLog, Red Hat Satellite, Content Delivery Nodes, AWX/Ansible Automation Platform, GitLab, Clevis & Tang, Apache, and Splunk.
- Hands-on experience with automation tools like Ansible, Bash scripting, or similar technologies.
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies (VMware, KVM) and containerization (Docker, Openshift, Kubernetes) is a plus.
- A solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
- Security awareness with experience implementing best practices to ensure system integrity and compliance.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, particularly in a Linux environment and working with the DOD.
- Investigates and recommends methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
- Administers systems/environment solutions for multiple projects with varying schedules. Interfaces with vendors for trouble calls. Supports the planning of system/environment requirements for individual projects. May provide work direction and guidance to others.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's with 5 - 8 years (or commensurate experience)

Required Skills and Experience
- Clearance Required: TS SCI- 3 years recent specialized or AA/AS +7 years recent specialized or 11 years of recent specialized experience- RedHat Certified Solutions Associate or greater, Linux+, LPIC (1,2, or 3), or comparable computer certification.- CompTIA Security + (IAT Level II or greater)

Preferred Skills and Experience- ITIL v3 - Foundation- Automation using Microsoft PowerShell, VBScript, or batch files Experience with Microsoft SCCM Experience working in VmWare ESXi environments. Experience with network storage (SAN/NAS). Experience with enterprise backup solutions. Adaptable to changing circumstances and operational needs. Understanding of Department of Defense Military standards. Experience working with and supporting Cisco Routers and Switches
