Director of Group Accounting

We are looking for a **Director of Group Accounting & Tax (f/m/d)** to lead our Accounting, Tax, and Regulatory Reporting functions. In this key role, you have an opportunity to contribute to the success of one of the fastest growing FinTech startups in Berlin not only from an accounting and tax perspective, but co-shape the way our product develops.

**Your responsibilities**

Here’s what you’ll have ownership over day-to-day:

- ** Group Accounting & Consolidation - **Oversee accounting for a group of our entities, each with its own external audits. Ensuring consolidated financial statements, as well as monthly and yearly closings, are accurate and timely.
- ** People Management - **Build and nurture the Accounting & Tax team by hiring, onboarding, and developing team members. Foster a high level of empathy and mentorship within the team to keep them engaged and thriving at work.
- ** Regulatory Compliance**:

- Ensure compliance with BaFin regulations and other relevant financial frameworks. Lead audits and regulatory reporting requirements. Handle the debt financing credit facilities, including regular financial reporting to creditors.
- ** Taxation**:

- Oversee international and corporate taxation for all entities and ensure accurate VAT tax handling for financial services, while collaborating with internal and external advisors to ensure tax compliance.
- ** Strategic Planning & Automation**:

- Develop and execute a roadmap for finance automation and support CFO and other executive team members with strategic financial planning and decision-making.

**About you**

We think you’ll need the following **experience and qualifications** to succeed in this role:

- Proven international experience in group accounting and consolidation in a leadership role managing a team of finance professionals
- Expertise in international tax
- Excellent communication skills in German (C1) and English (C1)
