**Position Overview & Purpose**:
Fresenius Medical Care, an $18 billion company and largest Kidney Care company in the world, is seeking a **Global Category Director to focus on Direct Procurement**

The Global Procurement Organization is responsible for the procurement of goods and services and for the cooperation and alignment between the procurement community, business partners, cross-functional teams, and suppliers of FME’s product
- and provider-business globally.

**Strategy development: 25%**

**Category strategy business integration and execution: 30%**

**Relationship management: 25%**

**People leadership: 20%**
- Develop and implement Global Category Strategies to achieve stated objectives
- Seek the strategic input of relevant stakeholder functions and align the category strategies accordingly
- Manage the cross-regional and cross
- functional Global Category Team (GCT) of the assigned category and provide necessary functional guidance and support
- Monitor and evaluate market conditions impacting the assigned category and determine appropriate actions to cope with changes
- Drive the supplier -selection and -development process together with the GCT members and other functions
- Involve key suppliers in the innovation and product development processes
- Initiate and implement cost reduction actions
- Coordinate the tactical procurement processes, e.g. RfQ, negotiations, finalizing agreements etc.
- Monitor supplier performance and develop a best fit supplier portfolio
- Consolidate and optimize the internal requirements and demand across regions/ plants
- Initiate and participate in Make or Buy analysis in conjunction with the relevant functions
- Ensure usage of the eProcurement tools and processes, such as, SRM to increase efficiency and effectiveness
- Drive budgeting and target setting for material costs
- Ensure reporting of results and actions and communication at all levels
- Assign Supplier Management responsibility to Category management vs. other Procurement functions

**Your profile**:

- An initial technical, financial or commercial degree, ideally together with a postgraduate business or finance degree
- The incumbent should have 8+ years’ management experience in strategic procurement, operations, engineering or a related field. An in-depth knowledge of modern procurement techniques and approaches, including strategic cost management principles and strategic category management process knowledge is essential.

- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Knowledge of material and production technology
- Interactive and social competence
- Multilingual (English mandatory)
- Good knowledge of manufacturing technologies
- Good knowledge of global markets
- Willingness to travel, flexible work time management
