Inspector - Howitzer (Paladin) 2.2

Job Summary:
**Purpose**:The Inspector - Howitzer will inspect all maintenance and repair efforts of field artillery (M109’s/M992’s) for the Army Prepositioned Stocks - 2 (APS-2) contract. As the Howitzer Inspector, the duties under this job title are to perform field and sustainment Inspections on medium self-propelled track systems and on ammunition track carriers; inspects, troubleshoots and diagnoses faults in armament and automotive systems of the M109-series howitzer, M992 Field Artillery Ammunition Carrier (FAAC) and the M88A1 Medium Track Recovery Vehicle;

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to fulfill each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Oversees and or conducts inspections on different classifications of tracked vehicles/equipment at the unit level.
- Oversees and or conducts initial inspections upon delivery of equipment and records data information for the processing of maintenance work orders troubleshoots identified faults and in-process inspections as required during the repair phase. Conducts a final inspection upon completion of maintenance repairs to ensure quality product outputs are met.
- Prepares records of inspection/tests and make them available to the QA/QC Department.
- Verifies procedures being used are adequate for the effective control of quality, rejects defective workmanship and materials, verifies and certifies the test results on supporting documents.
- Provides guidance and technical assistance to shop maintenance personnel on inspection principles of workmanship, procedures to be employed, and quality of work expected.
- Ensures compliance with government and corporate regulations, company SOPs, directives, and technical manuals to establish and maintain a quality management program.
- Maintains cross talk with QA and LAR representatives.
- Coordinates with Shop Supervisor when technical problems arise and in-depth mechanical knowledge is required.
- Cross trains when required to ensure maximum flexibility and possession of technical skills in the development and maintenance of quality programs.
- Instills a safety first mentality within respective work areas and a culture that achieves low accident rates and mínimal lost-time injuries.
- Adhere to ISO Policies, Procedures, and Work Instructions in support of the Amentum Quality Management System.
- Performs other duties as assigned. Performs troubleshooting, maintenance and repairs on various pieces of wheeled vehicles/equipment, both tactical and non-tactical
- Instills a safety first mentality within respective work areas and a culture that achieves low accident rates and mínimal lost-time injuries.
- Maintain a daily timesheet and daily manning report and ensuring times are accurate.

Minimum Requirements:
**Qualification & Experience Requirements**:

- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years of track vehicle maintenance required.
- 1 plus years’ additional experience as a Howitzer/Track inspector is preferred.
- Full or partial Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification or European equivalent preferred.
- Work experience may be substituted for educational requirements and/or educational achievements may be substituted for years of experience. Example: Two (2) years of experience is equivalent to (2) years of college and vice versa.
- Must be able to meet and maintain all base access security requirements.
- Must be able to meet and maintain all Logistics Information System (LIS) access requirements (Common Access Card).
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Must have or be able to obtain a U.S. Passport

**Specialized knowledge and skills**:

- Cooperate with staff, public, vendors, salespersons, suppliers, contractors, etc.
- Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.
- Must be able to pass General Trade Skill PQS within 30 days of hire.
- Must have knowledge of diagnostics tools and forms used at the unit level.
- Must be able to read vehicle/equipment schematics.
- Must have the ability to analyze and interpret U.S. Army Technical Manuals with relation to vehicle maintenance and repair.
- Experienced in using the Global Combat Support System (GCSS-Army).
- Experienced in the using the U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM) Unique Logistics Support Applications (TULSA) and Logistics Information Warehouse (LIW).

Required upon hire: possession of a valid US Driver’s License
