**Job Background/Context**: The role operates within a diversified context (according to IFM country classification), reflecting the complex structure of the German franchise with several legal vehicles, branches outside Germany as well as several businesses which lead to significantly increased governance/regulatory control and the need for enhanced processes and standards. **Job Purpose**: Reporting to the Country HR Officer, the Labor Relations and Governance Lead is responsible for managing the labor relations environment within their country to mitigate risks to Citi. The incumbent will be accountable for designing and implementing the organization's labor relations strategy to minimize the negative impact of individual employee grievances or collective labor disputes. They will also be responsible for managing unique country requirements such as the Workers Counsel partnership and any collective agreement as needed. From a Governance point of view, the lead is responsible for partnership with the head of HR on deliverables to different Committees and the Board. The peer group for this role sits in Europe in Spain and France. Employee Relations supporting Germany sit in London and Belfast. **Key Responsibilities**: Appropriately assesses risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations Advising on the local impact of global/regional priorities and processes in line with local legal and regulatory requirements leveraging the firm’s Centres of Excellence (CoEs) and in partnership with the local HR team Coordinates employee and labor relations programs to ensure compliance with policies and practices Supports the implementation of regional initiatives and processes to enhance governance of Citi Global Markets Europe AG legal vehicle headquartered in Frankfurt Manage unique country requirements that differ from standard Citi practices e.g. RIF negotiations that require in-person interactions, processes that require local language and/or processes mandatory by collective bargaining agreements Represents the firm in information and negotiations with the Workers Counsel Liaises with managers, employees, and their representatives to advise on grievances and develop strategies to prevent their recurrence in order to maintain a productive, respectful and constructive workplace environment Manages HR risk, control and governance, incl. the assessment and reporting thereof, partnering with stakeholders to ensure alignment Advises HR Generalists and business stakeholders in accordance with German Employment law and the firm’s Employee Relations context In partnership with the head of HR, manages delivery of internal and external audits as well as co-ordination of follow-ups Performs quality assurance over issues being reported by the Risk and Control teams Ensures all employer-employee relationships in the organization comply with collective agreements, individual employment contracts, regulations, laws, and the organization's employment policies and standards **Development Value**: The job holder can grow over time into more senior roles within HR, HRSS, Compliance or other adjacent fields, both locally and regionally **Competencies / Skills**: Sound working knowledge of HR roles and processes of matrix organizations **Language skills**: German native or comparable level, excellent English (written/spoken) Number-driven/analytical/attention to detail Strong interpersonal and communication skills, Team-worker Effective negotiation and conflict resolution skills Structured, organized with a process improvement mindset to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of area of responsibility High tolerance for dealing with ambiguity and on-going change while keeping a can-do attitude Resilient under pressure and self-motivated in a fast paced and demanding environment **Qualifications**: University Degree in Law, Business Management, Human Resources Management or related discipline Education/qualification in German employment law 7+ years of function/role specific experience in complex/matrix, global or international corporation -------------------------------------------- - **Job Family Group**: Human Resources -------------------------------------------- - **Job Family**: Employee Relations ------------------------------------------------- - **Time Type**: Full time ------------------------------------------------- - Citi is an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer.
