Incumbent will be required to travel several times a year; at least once to the US and possible numerous trips within Germany and even a few trips in the Central Europe region.
**Duties**:
Incumbent is a member of Commercial Service (CS) Germany staff, is in Munich and is the Regional Investment Specialist responsible for promotion of foreign direct investment into the United States.
The Principal Commercial Officer (PCO) in Munich is the first line supervisor, though the incumbent will work actively with and under the guidance of the Regional Senior Commercial Officer (RSCO) on Mission-wide and Sub-Regional planning and activities. The incumbent will work with the RSCO and PCO to reach out to the Consuls General and their teams which cover the south of Germany, as well as relevant PCOs, to increase the scope of outreach. Incumbent will also be called upon to coordinate regional SelectUSA activities, providing counsel, support, and assistance to designated staff in a region consisting of Germany, Austria, Slovakia, and Switzerland.

EXPERIENCE:
Four years of progressively responsible experience in investment, economic research, marketing, business management, trade promotion, commercial banking are required. Within those four years, a minimum of two years of project management experience is required including experience in the formulation and implementation of commercial policy decisions.
JOB KNOWLEDGE:
Expert knowledge of German economy, industry and business in general, combined with detailed knowledge of some industry sectors; substantive knowledge of German governmental organizations and functions; and in-depth knowledge of German investment trends, business law and practices; familiarity with Intellectual Property Protection norms.
- Education Requirements:
A bachelor’s degree in business, international business, management, economics, marketing, finance is required.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Above-average capability in identified languages for negotiating with government officials and top-ranking business executives; to develop, organize, and manage investment promotion events, including conferences, seminars, and webinars; to deliver marketing and persuasive promotional presentations to a business audience or individual business representatives, in-person as well as via teleconference (this may be tested)
- high level of proficiency in clear and concise writing of business counseling messages in English (this may be tested)
- ability to analyze and report on market information and statistics
