Head of Unified Runtime

**What you'll do**

The Head of Unified Runtime (M/F/d) will drive the transformation towards one coherent platform, consisting of services which are not restricted to a certain runtime or environment. We want our platform to have the usability and feel of a single, coherent product. You'll define the Unified runtime strategy with focus on service-centricity, and position the Cloud Foundry and Kyma runtimes as services within BTP, providing choice to the customers. You'll also put the Unified runtime strategy into execution as engineering lead. An important part of the role is to initiate and engage in customer engagement initiatives, to align on requirements and strategy with selected relevant customers and internal stakeholders. With the growing customer base depending on the SAP BTP this role has an essential responsibility for the success of SAP BTP by providing a stable, secure and scalable unified runtime.

Your Responsibilities:

- Further shape and execute the Unified Runtime strategy in alignment with the strategy
- Bring a product mindset to the table and develop a vision for a coherent platform offering (starting from a runtimes perspective)
- Cascade to the organizational units and translate the strategy into goals
- Prioritize topics for the product owners to ensure aligned execution and to streamline development efforts
- Balance different strategic, sometimes conflicting parameters (e.g. infrastructure costs, security, availability)
- Lead, manage and develop an organization with overall ~200 employees and professionals, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to ensure successful execution of the Unified Runtime strategy
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product management, and operations, to align efforts and drive the necessary changes
- Stay on top of industry trends and emerging technologies related to runtimes and platforms, and incorporate relevant advancements into the Unified Runtime strategy
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the Unified Runtime organization

**What you bring**
- Proven experience in building and executing successful strategies in the software development
- Strong understanding of both technical foundation and customer requirements across the different runtimes, such as Cloud Foundry and Kyma
- Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams through transformation and uncertain times
- Deep knowledge and development experience in AI/ML technologies
- Outstanding analytical and problem-solving abilities with a track record of running cross-unit initiatives
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage ambiguity and execute under uncertain boundary conditions
