**The position**:

- You will work in a team of radiation protection officers supporting the operation of the X-ray laser and the experiment programme, and as well the laboratory work using X-ray generators and radioactive sources. You will work with state-of-the-art X-ray beams and their handling. More recently laser-driven X-ray sources have been added to our portfolio.
- The centralized radiation protection team ensures safe operation in an effective working environment for many scientists and engineers making use of our installation. In terms of radiation protection you will closely collaborate with DESY, running the electron accelerator.
- We are a relatively young team and a new facility. We constantly develop our facility, and your participation in these projects is highly welcome.

**Requirements**:

- University degree in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline (BSc, MSc, Diplom, PhD).
- You should have sound knowledge of radiation protection, and have worked as a radiation protection officer. Ideally you have Fachkunde S6.4.
- You have excellent communication skills and are a team player.
- German language skills at B2 (ideally C1) level are expected.
- Experience with accelerator
- or laser-driven X-ray sources, their simulation, operation and related radiation protection aspects will be a valuable asset.
