**The Role**
As our **Head of Engineering, Mass/Hosting** at CentralNic, you will gain exposure in leading & growing your teams and deliver value to CentralNic customers through creative improvements to products & platforms. This is a key role for CentralNIC and you will have overall responsibility for managing technology services as well as overseeing and managing mixed engineering teams comprising frontend and backend engineers, full-stack, and legacy constellations.
One of the utmost important things will be defining a strategy for achieving consolidation of the legacy platforms along with a new hosting platform for the CentralNic group. Whilst the primary focus is on managing software engineering teams, the role also links software and system engineering.
This role will ideally be based in UK/Germany/France, however we are working remotely at the moment but will be taking a hybrid approach post-pandemic.
**Key outcomes of the role will include**:
- Ability to translate business requirements working closely with multiple stakeholders and product & engineering teams to ensure accurate and successful production releases
- Demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of all the requisite underlying systems and connections that support the functioning of all sites, including connections to the product database and internal API's
- Managing the team to ensure that group engineering standards and best practices are followed
- Ensure that we use modern engineering standards and tools as well as set up plans in order to constantly reduce our technical debt. Being open-minded and always up for the modernization of our systems. The especially cloud-based approach will become more and more important and have to be considered where applicable
- Ensuring that we have the right talent and skills within the engineering team in order to fulfil our mission. Identify gaps and define plans if the team is behind expectations
- Ability to drive execution by organizing team work, setting goals, and holding the team accountable

**Experience and skills that will help you succeed**
- Strong experience in both tech and people management is required.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team with professionals at all levels
- Previous experience of leading a team
- experience within cloud-based setups like AWS will be helpful as we take the Cloud-First approach
- Previous experience in the Domain industry will be helpful but not required

**The Process**
Our process will consist of an initial phone screen conversation over video via Google Meet with a member of our People team to make sure your expectations of the role are aligned with the business needs. There will then be the first round which will be a competency-based interview with the Hiring Manager and a member followed by a second round.
We aim to keep you informed throughout the process so we will be communicative and transparent throughout (which also happens to be one of our company values)
**Location**
The role will ideally be based at one of our offices in Europe. We embrace flexible working and are happy to discuss suitable arrangements that will work for everyone.
