Head of Risk

Your mission
As the Head of Risk & Compliance, you will be a pivotal figure in ensuring the company’s risk management framework, compliance standards, and underwriting policies are robust and aligned with the expectations of our banking and lending partners. Reporting to the executive leadership team, you will oversee all aspects of compliance and risk management, including including all policies required to maintain under our outsourcing agreements with regard to onboarding of customers, credit underwriting, and operational risk, while fostering strong partnerships with financial institutions.

**Responsibilities**:
**Risk Strategy Development**:

- Design and implement a comprehensive risk management framework aligned with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Develop policies that balance business growth with sound risk management principles.

**Compliance Oversight**:

- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including AML, KYC, GDPR, and relevant financial services regulations in Germany and the EU.
- Act as the primary point of contact for regulators and lending partners regarding compliance matters.

**Lending Partnerships**:

- Align risk policies with the expectations and requirements of our banking and lending partners.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with partners to ensure smooth collaboration and risk-sharing.

**Policy Oversight**:

- Ensure our credit underwriting and dunning/collection policies are in line with our banking and lending partners and ensure they are executed and imposed accordingly.
- Review and optimize processes to enhance efficiency and decision-making accuracy.

**Leadership**:

- Lead the Compliance & Risk Team, fostering a high-performing and collaborative culture.
- Provide training and guidance on risk and compliance best practices across the organisation.

**Monitoring & Reporting**:

- Establish and oversee risk monitoring systems to identify, assess, and mitigate potential risks.
- Report on key risk metrics to the executive team and stakeholders

**Profile**:
**Experience**:

- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in risk, underwriting, and/or compliance in a senior role within a bank, lender, or fintech.
- Proven track record of working with banking and lending partners on policy alignment and compliance.

**Expertise**:

- Deep understanding of regulatory requirements, credit risk, and operational risk in financial services.
- Familiarity with European and German financial regulations, including BaFin standards.

**Skills**:

- Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and communication skills.
- Ability to navigate complex partnerships and negotiate effectively with financial institutions.
- Proficiency in risk management tools and methodologies.

**Other Qualifications**:

- Fluency in English is required; German proficiency is highly desirable.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, law, business, or a related field (advanced degrees or certifications in risk management or compliance are a plus).
