**About this role**

This is a unique and exciting opportunity for a VAT Specialist (f/m/d) to be part of smart Europe’s central tax team based in Germany. As a Senior Specialist VAT (f/m/d) you are responsible for our eleven markets in EU, CH and UK. You are instrumental in ensuring VAT compliance for the smart EU entities and in ensuring daily VAT topics are managed in a timely and effective manner.

**Your responsibilities**

**Supporting the smart EU central tax team with**:

- Ensuring VAT compliance for Smart EU companies (currently eleven)
- Preparing VAT reports and VAT payments (managing the exchange of information with external advisors to prepare VAT returns and registrations)
- Reviewing and approving VAT reports
- Performing VAT audits (reviewing invoices or transactions, especially at month-end)
- Advising internal stakeholders on VAT issues (e.g., invoicing, reviewing advertising contracts from a VAT perspective, etc.)
- Handling issues related to electronic invoicing (in relevant markets)

**What you bring along**

Education
- A successfully completed university degree in economics or law with a special focus on taxation, international trade, and/or a graduate degree in finance.

Professional Experience
- You have at least 2 years of professional experience in VAT or income tax field in a comparable position (preferably in the automotive industry) or in a consulting company.
- In-depth you have expertise in European (EU) VAT regulations.
- You have a good understanding of end-to-end supply chain processes.

Knowledge / Functional Expertise
- A good knowledge in import and export business (freight, ship or air).
- A sound knowledge of VAT law.

Key Competencies / Soft Skills
- Confident use of common MS Office programs as well as SAP.
- Very good communication skills in German and English.
- You think in a process and solution-oriented way and are characterized by a high level of coordination and problem-solving skills.
