**GENERAL SUMMARY**: The Head of Client & Market Development (M/F/d) will support the Regional Managing Partner, the COO and the partners in collaboration with the other functional leads in leading and directing the Germany strategic business planning design and implementation by focusing on opportunities for revenue generation and for developing the Firm client base. This role will provide leadership to the CMD team and will work in close co-operation and alignment with the regional and global CMD teams and with the local Head of Brand, Communications & Marketing. **KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**: The Head of CMD Germany will have the following responsibilities: - Business planning, revenue generation and opportunity spotting - Provide overall leadership for revenue generation planning and implementation for the Germany practice based on comprehensive market research (country macroeconomics, clients, sectors, competitors) that will support the delivery of the global and regional Firm's vision and strategy in the local market working with RMP, the German leadership and the Partnership - Support the development and preparation of a business action plan for the Germany practice and work with the Germany Leadership Group and partners/teams to implement the plan - Support sector leaders and sector managers on the implementation of sector business plans - Provide leadership on the development of the Germany client base, including regional initiatives, as well as working with the client and market development managers leading client teams across the global network - Support with the onboarding of lateral partners in terms of business development and client relationship aspects - Support training initiatives for associates and partners on business development skills - Lead and manage the regional BD team, effectively managing performance, developing the skills, best practice and career perspectives (evaluation, training) and integrating the BD team into the regional and global marketing effort - Be a key contributor to the global CD strategy, including by leading on assigned regional or global projects - Pursue constant improvements in the team efficiency and effectiveness by developing the skills, best practice and performance of team members - Understand the external forces that shape clients' industries and the legal profession, share insights internally and contribute to establishing an increasingly client centric culture in the areas in scope. - Ensure "Must Win" pitches involving Germany - panels, cross-border pitches - are strongly managed and put in the best position to optimised in collaboration with Pricing and Best Delivery teams. Establish adequate KPIs and review progress. - Client & Sector Focus - Work closely with Partners and the CMD function at local, European and global levels to further develop key client relationships in conjunction with the Client and Sector Focus teams. - Facilitate an effective client-focused approach to relationship management across the various client teams, practices, business priorities and sectors in the office. - Key Account Management responsibility (direct or indirect via oversight of key account managers) for selected strategic clients, including responsibility for creating the annual client plan, mapping relationships, coordinating panel pitches/major cross-practice opportunities alongside the relationship partners. - Client & Market infrastructure - Ensure proper coordination of the processes required in relation to legal directories, including submissions, ensuring practices develop compelling and substantiated narratives - Ensure alignment with global processes and maximum leverage of global systems resources and tools, including Foundation or Interaction and the Firm's shared services hubs - Team management - Coordinate the day-to-day activities of the CMD team and of their performance review and career progression. - Create an environment for professional development for team members and ensure they have sufficient training and on-the-job support. - Align to the global** **CMD team ethos and the firm's Code of Conduct **REQUIREMENTS**: **Education** - University degree (in Business Studies, Economics, Marketing or Law) **Personal** - Excellent communication skills - oral and written - Capacity to think strategically combined with a hands-on and pragmatic approach - Problem-solver and results driven - Natural leader and team-player - Proactive, able to work to tight deadlines, reliable and flexible - Insightful and creative - Risk-conscious **Experience & Technical Skills** - Substantial experience in a similar position in a professional or financial services firm, preferably with an international/matrix organisation with management exposure - Ideally familiar with business development, key account management, marketing and communications including PR background - Experience in budget management and supplier management - Project management skills - Very good Micr
