From families to caregivers, we make a positive difference for as many people as possible. **Description**: The Global Director Scientific Partnerships, GMA, Oncology Business Unit (OBU) is a member of the Global Scientific Partnerships Team within the External Alliances organization, and is accountable for leading the global Therapeutic Area-focused external scientific engagement plans in the region of interest. The incumbent will report into the Global Head of Scientific Partnerships. The Global Director Scientific Partnerships will utilize her/his extensive expertise in oncology and academic alliances management to strengthen internal alignment in order to define and implement scientific external engagement plans to advance medical strategy. The Global Director Scientific Partnerships is one of the key AstraZeneca scientific contacts for the strategic academic players such as Cancer Centers, Cooperatives Groups and National Cancer Bodies in any region of interest. The Global Director Scientific Partnerships will work in a matrix environment directing and supporting medical network colleagues within Oncology Medical Affairs (global/local) and other contributing functions such as Oncology R&D teams to ensure effective design and subsequent implementation of the External Alliances strategy. **Major Responsibilities**: - Leverage strategic oncology external partners -such as Cancer sites, Cooperative groups and National Cancer Bodies - and develop scientific engagement strategy in the TA of interest through the deployment of scientific ecosystems to deliver TA growth. - Engage internal GMA stakeholders in particular from GMA TA teams to ensure medical insights from them to establish priorities and build up an impactful external engagement strategy. - Collaborate with regional/country MA to ensure relevant local insight and to provide scientific engagement support within the Oncology Business Unit. - Bridge with External R&D and R&D teams to support scientific external engagement across the whole organization. - Drive and coordinate the deployment of the TA-specific scientific ecosystems to support external engagement. - Responsible for the plan delivery and manage budget and vendor oversight associated with external activities - Maintain compliance with all company compliance and regulatory guidelines governing external interactions **Minimum Requirements**: - Doctorate in Science, Medicine, Pharmacy, Pharmacology, or equivalent required - Strong experience in establishing and managing collaboration alliances with academic entities. - Strong experience in clinical and non-clinical research in Oncology - Existing peer-level KEE relationships - Strong interpersonal and project management skills - Experience managing programs in a team environment - Strong knowledge of public-private partnerships - Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment - Contract negotiation **Preferred Requirements**: - Post Doc experience - Substantial experience in a strategy-setting role in Pharma - Global experience within the pharmaceutical industry (>7 years) - Good understanding of Intellectual property regulation - Good knowledge in the Lung Cancer field - Knowledge in strategic cancer sites and cooperative groups in Asia, US and EU
