Global Head of Trade Compliance

As Global Head of Trade Compliance (M/F/d) you are reporting to the Global General Counsel. You will assume direct responsibility for the management of trade compliance on a worldwide scale and be responsible for functionally leading regional trade compliance experts globally. To this end, you are partnering with other key corporate functions and setup and overseeing the trade compliance function of the EVIDENT Corporation and establishing the processes, governance, and priorities for its continuous improvement. This position can be based either in the EMEA region or the US.

Tasks
- You provide leadership and direction relating to trade regulations, compliance, and risk assessment.
- You build and execute trade compliance strategies reflecting the evolving conditions and regulatory landscape.
- You provide timely risk assessments, develop and implement policies and processes as well as metrics to track progress and identify improvements.
- You build and foster a strong program of training and education on trade compliance matters.
- You lead the continuous improvement process in trade compliance and the implementation of export compliance best practices.
- You lead and supervise the global Trade Compliance function and work closely with Supply Chain personnel in the regions and functions. Partners also with corporate and business functions.
- You work with internal and external partners to conduct global trade compliance assessments on a routine basis to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures; you are in charge to conduct internal audits and regulatory trade compliance audits.
- You perform all other duties as assigned.

**Requirements**:

- You hold a Master’s degree in business administration or international business, or a Doctorate in law or a similar discipline.
- You are proficient in U.S. and European export/import control regulations (regulatory framework, free trade agreements, customs regulations) and have ideally experience with Japanese export/import control regulations.
- You have legal expertise in trade compliance from both import and export perspectives, and specific experience addressing issues such as customs misclassifications; misuse of free trade agreements; and, lapses in recordkeeping and registrations.
- You are experienced in ITAR compliance, including controls of products and technical data, as well as issues related to foreign national access to the same.
- You have experience in interaction and negotiation with respective authorities worldwide.
- Important is your significant expertise in international (and regional) trade matters, including:
1. end-to-end export control;
2. tax and supply chain risks as well as sanctions;
3. tariff interpretation, classifications, documentation and reporting;
4. duties, fees, taxes, clearance and brokerage, and preferential trade programs.
- You bring experience with IT systems and trade compliance automation tools.
- For this role intercultural awareness/experience and cultural sensitivity is important.
- You have a strong mindset on change management, building an organization, and leadership and integration.
- You work collaboratively and communicate effectively across functions and transport a trade compliance mission and vision to all stakeholders, securing support and ensuring alignment.
- You like to bring together and manage a variety of different stakeholders, incl. legal, compliance, tax, supply chain and logistics in a global matrix structure.
- You develop and manage training programs to educate internal staff on policy changes and new directives regarding trade compliance as well as on their respective responsibilities.
