**Student assistant (f/m/d) - HPC-Based Analysis of Big Data for Metabolic Disease Prevention**:
The position can start as soon as possible and is available as a part-time student job (HIWI) with flexible working hours, typically 6-10 hours per week. The initial appointment will be for a period of 6 months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and project needs. The job can also be extended to bachelor or master thesis.
**Tasks**
- Collaborate with the research team to identify specific research questions and objectives related to metabolic diseases within the UK Biobank dataset.
- Utilize High-Performance Computing (HPC) infrastructure to efficiently process and analyze large-scale datasets using and adjusting existing algorithms.
- Perform quality control checks to ensure accuracy and reliability of the analyzed data.
- Adjust and implement data analysis pipelines and workflows for efficient and reproducible analysis.
- Generate clear and concise reports, visualizations, and summaries of the analysis results.
- Contribute to research publications, presentations, and scientific discussions related to metabolic disease prevention using big data and AI.
**Profile**
- Currently enrolled at RWTH as a student in a relevant field (e.g., Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Computer Science, Medicine or a related discipline).
- Strong interest in learning about medicine.
- Proficiency in data analysis and programming languages (e.g., Python, R, or similar).
- Familiarity with High-Performance Computing (HPC) environments and tools for efficient data processing and analysis.
- Solid understanding of statistical analysis methods and data visualization techniques.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Effective communication skills to present findings and contribute to scientific discussions.
