WE ARE LOOKING FOR A
Research Assistant (M/F/div)
The Max Planck Institute of Immunobiology and Epigenetics in Freiburg is seeking a full-time research assistant to support the independent research group of Juliane Glaser, Ph.D., Transposons in Mammalian Development. The position is scheduled to begin on 1st of October 2025. The initial term is limited to two years.
**YOUR TASKS**:

- Monitoring daily laboratory activities to ensure that laboratory operations run smoothly and safety regulations are followed
- Ordering consumables and laboratory equipment
- Planning and conducting experiments to support research projects focusing on the role of transposable elements during mammalian development. Experiments include routine molecular biology (cloning, PCR, etc.) and more hands-on work on mouse embryonic stem cells and mouse embryos (CRISPR/Cas9 genome engineering, embryos dissection, RNA and protein staining, transgenesis etc.)
- Further development and implementation of new methods and techniques
- Evaluation, analysis and interpretation of experimental results

**YOUR QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Master's or Bachelor's degree in molecular biology, cell biology, developmental biology or related fields
- FELASA certificate or comparable proof of authorisation to work with animal models in Germany is an advantage.
- Experience with cell cultures and basic molecular biology techniques (gel electrophoresis, qPCR, library preparation)
- Ability to analyse, summarise and report test results using statistical software
- Team spirit and strong analytical skills
- Excellent writing and communication skills in English; fluent German is an advantage
