Senior Civil Estimator

H&MV is currently working on high voltage projects in the utility sector and is also engaged in high voltage projects in Renewables, Data Centres, Manufacturing and Pharmaceuticals in the private sector worldwide.

Due to continued expansion in Germany, H&MV Engineering has an opportunity for an experienced Senior Civil Estimator to join a professional team. Since its inception, H&MV has proudly grown to become one of the top specialists in HV Turnkey projects, with offices in Ireland, the UK, Europe, Asia and South Africa. The Senior Civil Estimator holds a pivotal role in the tendering process.

**Responsibilities**:

- Project Analysis: Review project plans, specifications, and drawings to understand the scope of work, project requirements, and constraints.
- Cost Estimation: Assess the quantities of materials, labour, equipment, and subcontractor services required for the project. Utilize estimating software, historical data, and industry knowledge to calculate the cost of each component.
- Site Visits and Assessments: Conduct site visits to gather information about site conditions, accessibility, potential challenges, and other factors that may impact the cost estimate.
- Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, suppliers, and subcontractors to obtain accurate and up-to-date information. Collaborate with the project team to address any uncertainties or clarifications regarding the project scope.
- Bid Evaluation: Review and evaluate bids submitted by subcontractors and suppliers to assess their competitiveness and suitability for the project.
- Client Presentations: Prepare and present cost estimates to clients and stakeholders, providing clear explanations and addressing any questions or concerns they may have.
- Cost Monitoring: Monitor project progress and compare actual costs against estimated costs. Identify and communicate any significant variations, providing guidance and support to the project team.
- Value Engineering: Collaborate with the project team to identify value engineering opportunities and cost-saving alternatives without compromising project quality or functionality.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and organized records of cost estimates, including all assumptions, sources, and calculations. Prepare reports as required by the organization or project stakeholders.
- Industry Knowledge: Stay updated with industry trends, new materials, construction methods, and regulations that may impact cost estimates

**Skills/Responsibilities**:

- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience in civil engineering estimating, preferably in the construction industry.
- Proficiency in using estimating software and tools.
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Knowledge of construction contracts and relevant regulations.
- Familiarity with civil engineering standards and practices.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Willingness to travel within Europe and mainly the DACH region
- Excellent German and good English skills
- Full driving licence
