We are looking for a Team Lead Data Engineering (full-time) to start immediately in our office in Berlin-Friedrichshain, Germany. Our data engineering team owns the infrastructure that makes the vast amount of data accessible, reliable and efficient to query, so our teams can make the best data-driven decisions. As part of the Business Intelligence and Analytics department, you will work closely with the Analytics teams, Marketing, Finance and Engineering to ensure they all can collect and action data.

**You will**:

- Lead a team of data engineers that can scale with Babbel’s growing business challenges
- Own and deliver the roadmap for Babbel’s data analytics pipeline and data warehouse
- Ensure efficient team processes, plan sprints, guide team strategy discussions
- Build expertise on ETL and data modelling and own data quality for our data warehouse
- Partner with internal stakeholders to drive for solutions that can keep up with Babbel’s growth
- Work with the infrastructure team to triage infra issues and drive to resolution
- Foster cooperative collaboration with the Business Analytics team
- Conduct design and code reviews
- Lead and coach team members on multiple career levels on coding and problem-solving skills to grow a high performing team

**You are**:

- A team leader who communicates openly, can resolve conflicts, and maintains meaningful, individual relationships with your team
- Passionate about staying on top of emerging data-processing technologies

**You have**:

- Experience in managing small to medium data engineering teams in an international environment
- Several years of experience designing, building, monitoring and scaling data processing pipelines
- Strong data architecture, data modelling, schema and API design as well as effective project management skills
- Experience in working closely with different kinds of stakeholders in an international environment
- Deep, hands-on AWS experience - we use EMR, RDS, S3, AuroraDB, Kinesis, Terraform
- Strong engineering background, experienced with medium to large sized cloud-based data systems (Snowflake or Databricks is a big plus)
- Previous development experience with Python (dbt is a plus)
