Senior Applied Scientist

Designing, and building end-to-end infrastructure for large-scale Machine Learning experiments using Shadow testing and A/B testing methodologies.
Bring in your extensive scientific experience in researching and deploying Deep Learning algorithmic based solutions to help customers make sense out of confusing sizing systems.
Propose, lead and build bold initiatives - feature ownership from development to deployment.
Forge close partnerships with applied science leaders, product managers, and other business stakeholders to deliver state-of-the-art machine learning solutions to our customers and uncover new opportunities for growth.
Contribute to our scientific endeavours through external publications in top-tier journals and conferences.
Act as a mentor to junior scientists, foster collaboration with other teams, and actively share knowledge and expertise within Zalando’s science community.
WE’D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF
Extensive track record of addressing real-world problems using machine learning throughout the entire product cycle, and raises Size & Fit’s best practice in methods, algorithms and technology, including architecture, design patterns, and experiments.
Experience in deploying production-ready solutions in production together with engineers.
Experience designing and implementing data pipelines and architectures to support large-scale experimentation and analytics.
Strong knowledge of SQL.

ABOUT SIZE & FIT
At Zalando, we deeply understand that Size Matters. We are excited to use our unique and large article and customer datasets to tackle this challenge using ML and Computer Vision techniques. How about you; would you like to bring in your skills to shape a great experience for your family and friends when buying clothes and shoes online?
You will join our multidisciplinary Zurich & Berlin-based Size and Fit Team, composed of machine learning / computer vision / deep learning researchers, software engineers, and full stack developers from 20+ different nationalities. We provide recommendations and predictions on customer size and fit choices and conduct focused experiments using emerging technologies to solve the challenges.
You will take on this complex and important topic working side by side with our Product Specialists and Applied Scientists. We have great problems to solve, a huge customer base to impact and are a team that loves to have fun. Size and Fit is a human topic. We use machines to help solve our customers’ challenges. But we never forget - size and fit success is defined by how customers feel when they wear fashion.
