Design System Lead

We are looking for a \_Design System Lead (all genders)\_ to join our Product Design department to lead a team of designers and engineers to make our product work more scalable and at the same time improve the quality of our output.

**You will**:

- Be the go-to person for how Babbel best leverages a design system in product developments
- Develop and evolve tools for how to best enable our teams to efficiently roll out new features
- Advocate for the design system throughout the company, ensuring an scalable design approach is at the heart of everything we do
- Deliver high quality visual and interaction design solutions for existing and new features
- Create scalable components and patterns that work across multiple work surfaces and platforms and work with complex use-cases and requirements.
- Advocate for best practices and make sure we’re shipping high-quality experiences to our learners
- Working with product leadership to identify needs for strategic initiatives and owning the design system roadmap
- Collaborate with engineering teams to understand/identify the gaps in implementation of design system in product and plan a systematic cadence
- Communicate team purpose, contribution, and how it fits in with the broader mission of the company
- Responsible for the quality of the team, including coaching and growing individual contributors
- Consider factors beyond your immediate team to innovate, take appropriate risks, and balance short, medium, and long-term needs
- Report to the Director of Product Design

**You have**:

- 5+ years of Product Design experience
- At least two years experience with working on Design Systems
- Experience creating beautiful and engaging digital products
- Expertise using industry-leading design and prototyping software
- Strong communication, facilitation, and documentation skills and ability to effectively collaborate with other designers as well as cross-functional partners, including engineers
- Ability to tackle complex tasks and transform them into intuitive, accessible, and easy-to-use designs for millions of people around the world
- Familiarity with best in class visual design and interaction patterns and best practices
- Systems thinking approach, that is detail-oriented and meticulous, enabling you to easily identify use-cases and scenarios
