Lead of Advisory Europe

We are looking for a highly experienced Management Consultant (or equivalent) to be responsible for our Advisory services, both through their own portfolio of projects, as well as managing other Advisory partners. This individual can be based in any of our German office locations (Munich, Hamburg, Berlin).

Aufgaben
- Develop an overall Advisory Strategic Plan that is aligned with the Europe Strategy
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities, determining project viability with respect of profitability and alignment to the firm’s strategy
- Lead and support project pursuits, including developing proposals and preparing for and attending interviews for new work, ensuring that win targets for new and recurring business are achieved
- Develop and maintain relationships with key clients and collaborators to win work
- Lead the delivery of projects in their portfolio, engaging with both the client and the project delivery team to ensure quality standards and client expectations are met
- Drive competitive advantage by understanding and influencing global trends related to our industry, sector, customers, technology markets, and competitors
- Position Buro Happold as a thought leader and strong player in the advisory services in Europe in sustainability and energy transition, Smart and digital and mobility sector
- Monitor the performance of the full Advisory project portfolio, where necessary intervening to support partners and leadership to ensure successful delivery
- Serve on the EU Executive Board to bring a strong voice to the advisory business and help ensure our systems and processes support the advisory projects

**Further responsibilities will include**:
Client Relationships and Work Winning
- Lead and attend a range of events and conferences to ensure that the external profile of the practice is enhanced
- Support other areas of Buro Happold by increasing client and sector understanding for our client account teams and support the winning and delivering of engineering work

Finance and Commercial
- Ensure the required financial performance targets are achieved on all projects, actively managing resources, cash flow, profit, and capital lock-up
- In conjunction with the operations team, interact in contractual and fee negotiations to achieve best outcome for the company, operating as final stage of dispute resolution where necessary and authorized to do so

Leadership
- Lead the Advisory management team to grow revenue and profit for the EU Advisory practice
- Provide commercial leadership and education to project teams, offering advice and guidance to Project Directors and Leaders through regular project meetings
- Mentor and coach Project Directors so that the individuals concerned receive the professional guidance they need to sustain high levels of performance and support their career development
- Accurately analyze gaps in capacity and capability and define plans for recruitment, development and management of leadership and talent

Collaboration and Communication
- Provide a ‘big-picture’ view of their work to team members so they can make decisions that are aligned with project and company objectives
- Simplifies complexity, translating and clarifying financial plans with constructive dialogue, participative decisions, explicit actions, and driving high performing projects

Reporting
- Conducting performance reviews, leading cluster meetings to ensure the Project Principals are bidding for and working on agreed projects, sitting on the EU Executive Board representing the Advisory Partners

Qualifikation

As an established professional, we would expect that you will be able to demonstrate:

- Management Consultant (or equivalent) experience with multiple years in practice or other relevant qualified professional with a demonstrable track record of delivering a range of strategic and operational consulting projects to a variety of clients in urban development, real estate and public sector
- Prior experience of successfully winning and delivering advisory/consulting projects and leading consulting teams in sustainability and energy, smart and digital or mobility
- Strong commercial acumen and understanding on how to deliver high-margin advisory projects
- Proven experience working in clients at the senior executive levels and strong sector knowledge and understanding
- Existing industry network in Germany
- Fluent in German and English
