The Fraunhofer IGCV is the first production technology Fraunhofer institute in Bavaria. We are shaping the future of efficient engineering, interconnected production, and intelligent multimaterial solutions to ensure the sustainable competitiveness of Germany and Europe. The team "Fiber Placement & Composite Molding" develops robotic processes and production methods for the production of high-performance fiber-reinforced composites (CFK). To ensure production quality, continuous process monitoring using various sensors is necessary. The sensor data can then be coupled with the machine data to obtain a digital twin of the product. We are currently looking for a student assistant who would like to accompany us on our further successful path. **What you will do** - Introduction to the topics of artificial intelligence, neural networks, image processing, plant communication, and process digitization - Support in the integration of sensors and cameras for data acquisition and processing - Support in post-processing (filtering, merging, etc.) and visualization of the acquired sensor data - Developing and testing of convolutional neural network models for the defect detection during AFP lay-up within the thesis **What you bring to the table** - Currently enrolled in computer science, technical computer science, or a comparable field - Profound knowledge of the programming languages C++ and/or Python - Interest in digitization and IoT topics - Reliable and independent way of working **What you can expect** We offer flexible working hours, excellent equipment, and the opportunity to actively shape the digitization of composite production with us.
