(Junior) Head of Laboratory

**The Position**:
As a Lab Head in the Chemical Development department, you will have the disciplinary leadership of an Early Drug Substance Development laboratory and enrich various R&D projects.

**Tasks & responsibilities**:
- In your new role, you will be responsible for the disciplinary leadership and management of an early drug substance development laboratory with up to 4 technical staff.
- Furthermore, you will be accountable for upscaling chemical syntheses of new active ingredients from gram to kilogram scale in compliance with applicable EHS and GMP regulations.
- Through your expertise, you will manage internal and external interfaces and will be a part of the Chemical Development (CD) project team.
- In your leadership role, you will ensure good collaboration in cross-departmental, multidisciplinary R&D project teams.
- Moreover, you will coordinate important decisions within the project work and regarding investments and personnel with your supervisor.
Additional tasks as Lab Head
As a Lab Head, you will take on more responsibility and represent the department Chemical Development Germany in strategic projects.
**Requirements**:
- Completed scientific studies in the field of chemistry with a focus on organic chemistry, ideally with a doctorate degree; alternatively, completed professional training with several years of relevant professional expertise
- Ideally international or industrial experience, e.g. via a postdoctoral position
- Very good knowledge in organic synthesis
- Very good knowledge of modern synthesis methods
- Strong teamwork skills as well as a clear, effective communication style and a confident presentation style
- Fluency in written and spoken English and German
Additional requirements as Lab Head
- Experience in chemical process development of active ingredients
- Several years of successful participation in R&D teams
- Strong interpersonal skills, mature leadership ability and willingness to collaborate across departments
